I’m savoring life these days–things are moving forward with New Albion; my daughter is home from college for the summer and happy about her transfer this fall to Boston College; my stepson is moving on to his junior year of high school; husband Paul is happy in his job and had a fun season coaching his lacrosse team. The dog is getting old but he’s still hanging in there. Sometimes I remember the Carly Simon lyric, “These are the good old days,” and I try to keep that in mind.
There are a few long weekend trips I’m looking forward to this summer as well–a trip to Rehoboth Beach to take my girl to the Firefly Music Fest (you’ll find me on the beach and in the Dogfish Head brewpub while she’s jammin’), the Beer Bloggers Conference in Boston in July–and this weekend’s Savor Craft Beer event in New York City, sponsored by the Brewers Association.
You see, I haven’t been to New York City since I was 17-years-old. That trip was something out of Chevy Chase’s Vacation–a trip with my family in an RV down Fifth Avenue–I kid you not. But this time I’m traveling with Paul (who hasn’t been to NYC in at least a dozen years) and we hope to do a few touristy things besides attending the Savor craft beer and food pairing event on Saturday night. Also, I’m looking forward to hanging with some of my favorite Cleveland beer friends who are going to be there for Savor as well.
Be sure to follow along on Facebook and Twitter for updates and photos! What are you doing for summer fun? Savor it.
P.S. Happy Father’s Day weekend to all those craft beer loving dads out there!
